Component 1: Output
Design AI systems to deliver impactful output
Core ideas
- Output is first in the framework because purpose and end-state experience must orient every downstream decision.
- Avoid the builder’s trap: inventing solutions and searching for problems; anchor on real business problems and user value.
- Connect organizational initiatives to each AI module’s output: what is valuable, how it is used, and how integration evolves.
- Component 1 bridges intent and execution across three moves: org-wide design, opportunity funnel, then workflows and agents.
- Later components address data (2), models (3), observability (4), and the people and platforms that scale the system (5).
Framing (from the component introduction)
- Everything must be oriented around the purpose of what you want to create.
- Problems rarely exist in isolation; outputs must make sense inside the larger organizational ecosystem.
